Food Preparation/Catering Volunteer

At Little Miracles we have a Head Office and branches that regularly cater for and feed families during term-time and holidays.

Purpose of the role:
- To help create delicious and nutritious meals for the children and families we support in the setting. Using ingredients from a variety of sources while following food hygiene rules and legislation.
- You will also serve children and families meals and refreshments.
- Keep the kitchen clean to a high standard.
- Complete required checks within the kitchen such as rotation of supplies and fridge/freezer checks.
- Each day is different, one day you could be helping to prepare snacks for alternative provision children then next you could be whipping up a buffet for the families at an activity day.
Skills and Attributes
- Knowledge of cooking or willingness to learn.
- Happy to chat with children and families.
- Good Communication skills.
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Understanding of allergens/allergies.

Recruitment Requirements
- An informal interview with our Volunteer Manager
- Two references
- One Professional Reference - Previous employer or volunteer organisation you have worked/volunteered with.
- One Personal Reference - A friend or someone who has known you personally for 2+ years but is not related to you either by blood or marriage.
- An enhanced DBS Check to be completed by Little Miracles.
- Completion of 8 Mandatory Training Courses on our external training platform in line with our Safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Attendance on an induction session.
