Our EPIC PGL weekend!

"OH MY GOD, IT WAS THE BEST WEEKEND OF MY LIFE MUM!"
Ava is a full-time wheelchair user and honestly had the best time. She did things I did not think were possible!
The best bit for me was how everyone, including the other children, helped to give Ava the best weekend ever. Everyone helped push her wheelchair up the endless hills, but more importantly, everyone showed so much compassion and understanding when anxiety took over and got in the way.
The weekend started at 5pm on Friday and did not stop until 6pm on the Sunday... no wonder I was exhausted and slept til’ 12pm on the Monday! We squeezed in so much in such a short space of time...
-
Acting like chickens (yes, actual clucking and laying eggs...then carrying the egg back to your team like your life depended on it)
-
A full-on ‘moo-off’
-
Abseiling like pros
-
High ropes (so high my knees buckled just watching, and I could not bring myself to get up there!)
-
Giant swing fun (and screams...and another child holding Ava’s hand for reassurance and stroking her arm!)
-
Den building in the woods
-
Rifle shooting (Ava is very dangerous with a rifle and 10 times better than me!)
-
Raft building...and sinking, and falling off and laughing...lots of laughing
-
Canoeing and river swimming
-
Zip wiring...so high I could not peel my feet of the platform and instead made my way safely back down the stairs. However, the words of encouragement from the children made my heart burst!
-
Fencing matches – don't know what's worse, Ava with a Rifle or a Sword!
-
Singing ridiculous songs (OH NO ITS ON MY TOE)
-
Wearing equally ridiculous glasses
-
A beautiful rendition of YMCA
Fears were conquered. (Mainly Ava's...turns out I am still VERY scared of heights!). Friendships were formed, new foods were tasted, new routines were tested — and we survived!
We came away muddy, exhausted, stinking of lake water and full...so, so full!
Little Miracles, thank you for helping our kids fly (sometimes literally… down a zip wire). We’ll never forget it.
