Supported Volunteering

At Little Miracles, we believe everyone has something to offer.

Our supported volunteering opportunities are all about helping people grow in confidence, learn new skills and become part of a friendly, welcoming community while making a real difference to local families.

We know that starting something new can feel daunting, and that everyone is different. That's why we take the time to get to know you, understand any support you might need and help you find a volunteering role that feels right.

Whether you're hoping to build your confidence, gain experience for work, meet new people or simply give something back, we'd love to hear from you.

If you'd like to have a chat about supported volunteering, email volunteering@littlemiraclescharity.org.uk or call 01733 262226.

What is Supported Volunteering?

Supported volunteering is exactly what it sounds like – volunteering with the support you need to succeed.

You might need a little extra time to learn new tasks, clear instructions, a quieter environment or someone to help build your confidence. Whatever your needs, we'll work with you to make sure your volunteering experience is positive and enjoyable.

We're proud to be a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer which signifies that we're "going the extra mile to make sure disabled people get a fair chance" (Gov.uk).We believe volunteering should open doors, not create barriers.

A Place Where You Can Be Yourself

Little Miracles supports families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions, so creating an inclusive environment is part of who we are.

Our volunteers are a huge part of that. You'll be joining a friendly team that understands everyone learns differently and develops at their own pace.

Many of our volunteers tell us they've made new friends, discovered skills they didn't know they had and grown in confidence just by being part of the Little Miracles family.

What Could You Do?

There's no such thing as a typical volunteering role, and we'll always try to match your interests and strengths.

You could be helping at family sessions, supporting fundraising events, preparing activity resources, welcoming families, keeping our centres organised or helping with office tasks behind the scenes.

Whatever you choose, you'll be making a real difference.

What You'll Gain

Volunteering isn't just about helping others – it's good for you too.

Many of our supported volunteers build confidence, become more independent, improve their communication skills and gain valuable experience that can help with education or future employment.

For some people it's a stepping stone into work. For others it's about feeling connected, making friends and being part of something positive.

Support Every Step of the Way

We'll make sure you have everything you need to feel comfortable in your role.

You'll receive any training that's needed, along with ongoing support from our team. If your role requires an Enhanced DBS check, we'll explain the process and cover the cost once you've completed at least 10 hours of volunteering with us.

Every Little Thing Makes a Difference

Whether you're setting up activities, greeting families with a smile or helping behind the scenes, you're helping create safe, welcoming spaces where families can relax, have fun and feel understood.

Every volunteer plays an important part in what we do.

Could This Be Right for You?

You don't need experience to become a supported volunteer.

If you're kind, reliable and want to get involved, we'll help you find a role that suits you. Supported volunteering is a great option if you're looking to build confidence, gain experience, become more independent or meet new people.

Taking that first step can feel like the hardest part, but we'll be here to support you from the very beginning.
