Little Miracles Nottinghamshire Wins Outstanding Organisation at Discover Ashfield Awards

Huge congratulations to Little Miracles Nottinghamshire, which has been recognised for its life-changing work supporting families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions at the Discover Ashfield Awards.
The team proudly took first place in the ‘Outstanding Organisation’ category, which recognises organisations that make a significant difference in their local community. The Nottinghamshire branch of Little Miracles continues to do exactly that by providing vital support to families raising children with disabilities, additional needs and life-limiting conditions.
Representing the charity at the awards were Cheryl Hibbard and Vicky Wright, two dedicated members of the Little Miracles Nottinghamshire team whose journeys with the charity began as parents seeking support for their own children.
A local publisher wrote the following article, which sums-up the importance of the award beautifully -
Supporting Families of Children with Disabilities and Additional Needs
Little Miracles is a multi-award-winning UK charity supporting families with children from birth to age 25 who have disabilities, additional needs, or life-limiting conditions.
For Cheryl and Vicky, discovering Little Miracles was life-changing.
Vicky’s son, now nine, is autistic with advanced needs, while Cheryl’s son, now thirteen, was born with a complex congenital heart condition. Like many parents raising children with complex needs, they found that mainstream activities and community groups often weren’t accessible or supportive enough for their families.
That changed when they discovered Little Miracles.
At Little Miracles, their children could finally enjoy inclusive and accessible activities such as swimming sessions, soft play, forest walks, pantomimes, family parties, and the much-loved Friday Club.
Just as importantly, Cheryl and Vicky found a supportive community of parents who understood the realities of raising children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) from navigating Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans to managing medical appointments and everyday challenges.
From parents seeking support to supporting others, their connection with the charity quickly grew beyond attending activities.
Four years ago, Cheryl volunteered alongside Michelle King, founder of Little Miracles and a fellow “heart mum”, to help establish the Nottinghamshire branch. Vicky joined the team as a volunteer two years later.
Through their dedication to supporting local SEND families, both women have since progressed into paid roles within the charity.
Today, Cheryl works as the Nottinghamshire Branch Coordinator, helping to organise support services and activities for families across the area. Vicky now works as a Bank Childcare Practitioner, supporting children and young people at Little Miracles sessions and events.
Recognising the Impact of Little Miracles Nottinghamshire
Winning First Place for Outstanding Organisation at the Discover Ashfield Awards is a proud moment for the entire Little Miracles Nottinghamshire community.
The award highlights the incredible impact the branch has made in creating safe, welcoming spaces where families raising children with additional needs feel understood, supported, and never alone.
For Cheryl, Vicky, and the many families who attend Little Miracles sessions, the award is more than recognition, it celebrates a community built by parents who once searched for support and now help provide it for others.
