Our new Counselling Pod is brought to life by McCain and IKEA

We’re really pleased to say that our new counselling pod at The Spinney is now finished and ready to use!

We now have a dedicated, private and comfortable space to strengthen the emotional and mental health support we offer to children, young people and their families.

At Little Miracles, our Therapies Team supports children with additional needs, disabilities, or life‑limiting conditions, as well as their siblings and parents or carers.

Many of the children we work with are dealing with bereavement, trauma, or diagnosed mental health conditions. Our new counselling pod gives therapists a dedicated space for one‑to‑one sessions, creative therapies, and pre-assessments, all delivered confidentially and with care. It also allows us to offer therapies like art and sand play, which can be especially helpful for children with profound multiple learning difficulties, non-verbal children, or those who have experienced abuse. These private, uninterrupted spaces let children share their experiences safely and at their own pace.

This project was made possible thanks to the generosity of McCain Foods. After volunteering with us, their team learned about the growing demand for one‑to‑one therapeutic support. In 2025 alone, our Counselling Team delivered over 3,000 sessions — a clear sign that more space was needed. McCain generously donated £26,000 to fully fund the build, making the pod a reality.

The interior has been transformed by IKEA, who donated and installed all furnishings and décor for the two rooms, creating a warm, calming environment designed for the sensory and emotional needs of the children we support.

Art Therapist Anna Croft, who works closely with children unable to join group sessions, said:

“We are incredibly grateful for our new counselling pod. Having a calm, welcoming space helps children feel safe enough to express themselves, reflect, and begin to heal. The right environment really supports emotional growth, and this pod makes that possible.”

We are deeply thankful to McCain Foods for funding the build and to IKEA for designing and creating such a supportive space. This pod will give children and families a quiet, safe place to express themselves and start their healing journey.
