Volunteer Spotlight: From Volunteer to Qualified Childcare Practitioner

As part of Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating the incredible people who give their time to support Little Miracles and the families we work with.

Laura's journey with Little Miracles is a wonderful example of how volunteering can open doors, build confidence and create new opportunities.

When Laura first joined us, she was working as a delivery driver for Tesco. Alongside her job, she regularly volunteered with our childcare team, giving her time to support children and young people attending our sessions.

During this time, Laura independently enrolled on and completed a Level 2 Autism course, demonstrating a real passion for learning and supporting children with additional needs.

Her dedication didn't go unnoticed.

Michelle King, our CEO, was impressed by Laura's commitment and the way she naturally engaged with the children and young people attending our services. After discussing Laura's future career aspirations, she was offered the opportunity to become a Childcare Apprentice with Little Miracles.

Laura embraced the opportunity and worked hard throughout her apprenticeship, qualifying in September 2025 with a Distinction in her Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification.

Today, Laura is a Qualified Childcare Practitioner and valued member of the our childcare team.

Reflecting on her journey, Laura's story highlights how volunteering can provide valuable experience, build confidence and create pathways into meaningful careers supporting families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions.

We're incredibly proud of everything Laura has achieved and grateful that she continues to make a difference to the lives of families we support every day!
