Meet Beckie

At Little Miracles, our team is made up of people who bring passion, experience, and empathy to every family they support. Today, we’re excited to introduce Beckie, one of our newest Support Workers, whose background in charity work—and personal experience—make her a perfect fit for our team.

Beckie’s Journey to Little Miracles

Beckie joined Little Miracles just a month ago, but she’s already making a real impact. She has a wealth of experience in fundraising and outreach across several charities and even co-founded a small charity herself, which she ran for 3.5 years before it sadly had to close last December.

“I came to Little Miracles because I genuinely love charity work,” Beckie says. “And as a mum to a son with additional needs, I understand first-hand the challenges of navigating DLA, EHCPs, and Autism support.” Her experience fighting for the right school placement for her son gives her a deep understanding of the frustrations many parents face when trying to secure the support their children need.

What Beckie Loves About Her Role

Even in her short time with us, Beckie is already embracing every part of her role. She enjoys the variety of tasks, the supportive team environment, meeting the children, learning new skills, and knowing her work is helping families thrive.

“I’m loving the variety of tasks, meeting the kids, and being part of an organisation that truly makes a difference to so many families,” she says.

Making a Difference Every Day

Beckie’s mix of professional experience, personal insight, and genuine empathy makes her a fantastic support for the families she works with. Whether it’s helping parents navigate complex systems or providing hands-on support to children, she’s committed to making every family’s journey a little easier.

Anna’s Journey to Little Miracles

Anna first discovered Little Miracles in 2024, but it was in 2025 that she really became involved. Her connection to the charity was shaped by both her professional experience and her life as a parent.

As a Pinpoint Champion, Anna supports families in her local community. She’s a mum to four children, aged 23 to 9, each with their own neurodivergent traits. This gives her a personal understanding of the joys, challenges, and unique moments that come with raising a family where additional needs are part of everyday life.

Having already built strong ties in her community and supported many local families, Anna realised she could combine her personal insight, community work, and professional skills to reach even more families through Little Miracles.

“I’m quite well-known locally because I’ve always done a lot for families in the community,” Anna says. “I thought, why not bring these two worlds together and use my skills to help even more families?”

What Anna Loves Most About Her Role

For Anna, no two families are alike — and that’s exactly what she enjoys.

“I love helping families travel their own individual journey,” she says. “I’ve never met a family that isn’t unique.”

Known as a natural problem solver, Anna enjoys finding solutions and supporting families through challenges. Her colleagues and the families she works with often joke that she’s a bit like an encyclopaedia, thanks to her knowledge and knack for connecting people with the right support.

Anna also loves getting creative. She helps run events and arts-and-crafts activities, with a special interest in natural art and using recycled materials. Her approach encourages children to explore creativity in fun and accessible ways.

She’s equally passionate about alternative education approaches and enjoys seeing children thrive when given the chance to learn in ways that suit them best.

“I love inspiring alternative education and watching children learn and flourish in different environments.”

Supporting Families Every Step of the Way

Anna’s combination of personal experience, community knowledge, creativity, and compassion makes her an invaluable support for the families she works with. Whether it’s problem-solving, running a creative activity, or simply listening, she is dedicated to helping every family feel understood and supported on their journey.

Bromwyn is so excited to be part of Little Miracles! After many years as a teacher and SENDCo, she’s spent her career supporting children and their families, so joining a charity that does exactly that felt like a perfect fit. From the moment she heard about Little Miracles, she felt a real connection with the values – the kindness, compassion, and sense of community really spoke to her.

As Branch Coordinator in Milton Keynes, Bromwyn can’t wait to get stuck in, meet all the wonderful families, and make a real difference locally. She loves bringing people together, sharing tips and knowledge, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, safe, and understood. For her, the best part is seeing families connect, support one another, and feel less alone – that’s what makes the Little Miracles community so special.

Serena joined Little Miracles in June 2025 as a Childcare Volunteer, but her connection with the charity began many years earlier. As a child of a Little Miracles family, she experienced first-hand the support, care and encouragement the charity offers. Little Miracles supported Serena and her family in many ways, helping her get to where they are today.

Because of this, Serena was keen to give something back and support other children and families on similar journeys. In her role as a Childcare Volunteer, she helps create a safe, fun and welcoming environment where children can play, laugh and just be themselves while families feel supported and included.

Serena loves every part of Little Miracles, but if she had to choose a favourite, it would be seeing everyone happy and having fun together. She currently supports families across Boston, Skegness, South Holland and Bourne, and is passionate about helping Little Miracles continue making a positive difference.

Hello! I am Sasha, the new Centre Manager for our Peterborough branch. I have been with Little Miracles for 3 years now, first as a childcare worker and now as Centre Manager.

I began working with Little Miracles because I wanted to offer support to families and help them feel less alone. As a young mother of a child with a disability, I know first-hand how isolating it can be. I often felt judged and uncomfortable due to the looks and assumptions people made about me. My goal is to ensure everyone feels included and accepted, because we’re all here to support each other. That’s one of the things I love most about Little Miracles – it truly feels like a big, supportive family.

I really enjoy helping families to make precious memories with their loved ones by providing fun, inclusive and inviting activities. I have put on a wide range of activities this year, from a trip to London, ice skating, and my interactive story sessions for those who have profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).

Orla has always had a passion for working with children and families. "I started working with Little Miracles because I love to work with both children and families. I enjoy hearing their stories and how Little Miracles have helped them! It brings me so much joy to see the children happy under our care".

I adore the energy and excitement of our half-term sessions! These special times bring staff and children together, creating memories that last a lifetime. For me, nothing beats the smiles and laughter that fill the room during these events. 😊

Introducing Sophia!

Sophia is a Youth Worker at our Fenland branch, and has been with us for two and a half years (soon to be three!). Sophia’s story with Little Miracles began in an unexpected way. Initially, she joined in a different role, but her interest in understanding every aspect of our organisation brought her to the Fenland branch near her home. She met our incredible young people and was instantly drawn in by the sense of community and belonging she felt. “I just never stopped going,” she says.

What She Loves About Working Here

For Sophia, the word that best describes her experience is community. “I’ve been a part of Little Miracles for so long now; it just feels like home,” she shares. She values the supportive, close-knit environment with both her colleagues and the youth she works with. According to Sophia, “the young people are simply amazing”—and it’s clear she’s dedicated to making a positive impact on their lives every day.

In an interview below, Debbie Merry, one of most loyal volunteers and the person in charge of our caravan holidays tells us why she started volunteering for Little Miracles and what she gets out of her experience of volunteering for us.

Let’s introduce yourself. Tell us your name, what organisation you are representing, and your volunteer role!

Hi I’m Debbie and my volunteering role is Caravan admin. Little Miracles have a Caravan in Norfolk and I deal with the advertising and booking of breaks. I additionally liaise with the Caravan site with regards to repairs.

How long have you been volunteering with Little Miracles?

6 years

What made you decide to do volunteering?

One of my friends asked me to help her out with the Caravan admin and I was happy to step in. I have been doing it on my own now for about 4 years.

What is the best thing about your time volunteering?

I enjoy helping out and knowing that I make a difference. I am contacted by members at all times of the day with caravan queries. I have been known to be doing caravan work whilst lying on my sun lounger round the pool in Majorca!

What is the most challenging part?

I think the most challenging part is being so far away from the caravan (it’s 75 miles from me) There are quite a lot of maintenance issues and it would be nice to be able to just pop over and check what’s wrong.

What contribution or achievement are you most proud of?

I suppose I am most proud of doing it all on my own. There are usually about 50 bookings a year, so that is a lot of work but also a lot of happy people having an affordable enjoyable holiday.

What motivates you to stay involved in volunteering?

I enjoy the work and am happy to give something back to this great charity.

What would you like to say to anyone who is considering volunteering?

Do it! It’s very rewarding and you’ll really make a difference to other people’s lives.

We are so incredibly grateful to Debbie and all of our volunteers. They positively impact the lives of our families and in Debbie's case can help families get a break and some time together at what could be the very lowest time of their lives.

If you would like to volunteer for Little Miracles and help us to be here for more families, please follow the link below to find out more or email us at volunteering@littlemiraclescharity.org.uk.

Cheryl first started attending Little Miracles events and activities last year. After experiencing the positive impact on her family, she decided to join us as a volunteer.

For Cheryl, Little Miracles has been a place where her son Ben can truly be himself—free from judgment and surrounded by love and acceptance.

Now, as a volunteer, Cheryl is dedicated to helping other families access the same opportunities. She offers support to parents who may be struggling, something she personally found difficult when Ben was younger, like completing the daunting DLA forms.

One of Cheryl’s greatest joys is seeing the smiles on families' faces after a day out or an event that she helped make possible. It's a reminder of the difference Little Miracles can make for families like hers.

I am Lauren, a fundraiser and family of Little Miracles. I am Mum to Ava, the cheekiest 8 year old you will ever meet, and Elouise and Theo, my two beautiful babies who are sadly no longer here with us.

Little Miracles first supported me 8 years ago when my daughter Ava was born. You can read more about my family and how Little Miracles have supported us here, if you wish!

Having an employer who understands, appreciates, and accommodates my personal situation means that I am able to work. Little Miralces fully comprehend and embrace the fact that my child's well-being and needs always come first. This understanding and support are the reasons why I never want to leave! Fundraising is my way of giving back, as helping other families like mine means everything to me. Little Miracles has been my guiding light, pulling me out of dark places, and I want to ensure that no other family ever feels alone or helpless.

I look forward to connecting with you all!

One of the aspects I truly appreciate about my role is the diversity it offers. Each day brings forth a unique set of challenges, keeping things exciting and dynamic. Moreover, I take great pleasure in assisting and supporting the families we serve. Building connections, understanding their journeys, and constantly expanding my knowledge base are all aspects that bring me immense satisfaction.

My personal experiences as a parent to a child facing medical and developmental challenges have been instrumental in shaping my career path within the SEND profession. It is through my own journey that I developed a deep desire to support families during these trying times. Little Miracles provides me with a platform to make a meaningful impact and be there for others facing similar challenges.

I first joined Little Miracles many years ago as a parent when the team were supporting me with my eldest child. Over the following years I worked in the early years sector, local schools and children's centres gaining the experience from both a professional and a parent’s perspective. I wanted to use the skills I had gained to give back and work with families, helping them in the same way that Little Miracles had helped me many years before. They had inspired me and I wanted to join them in the amazing work they do.

I enjoy so many aspects of my role; meeting the families, providing enriching experiences and opportunities to our young people and being able to support the parents and guardians at the same time. I also love to learn from my colleagues and the professionals I liaise with on a daily basis.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is witnessing the genuine joy, laughter, and sense of accomplishment radiating from our families and young people. Their smiles and the happiness they experience in reaching their goals truly make my job fulfilling.

My journey with Little Miracles began with a simple yet profound purpose: to support young people with disabilities in accessing workshops and activities. I started by volunteering at local youth clubs, dedicating my time to ensuring that these individuals had the opportunity to participate and enjoy enriching experiences. It is this desire to make a positive impact on their lives that led me to become a part of the incredible Little Miracles team.

Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m the Peterborough Centre Manager, sharing the role with Sasha. I’ve been part of Little Miracles for four years now, and it’s been such an incredible journey.

I first joined Little Miracles when I applied for a youth worker role. It just looked like a really fun place to work! I quickly realised it was so much more than that. I loved the role so much that I went on to complete a youth work apprenticeship, followed by further education in youth work. During that time, I progressed into a management role, which has been an amazing opportunity for me to grow.

My inspiration to become a youth worker actually comes from my grandmother, who worked with young people. Seeing the difference she made really motivated me to follow a similar path and support children and families in a meaningful way.

I still remember arriving for my interview at Little Miracles and being greeted so warmly by everyone. The team was vibrant, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do, and I knew straight away that it was the right place for me.

What I enjoy most about working here is definitely the people. I love working alongside such a supportive team, and I really enjoy getting to know the families and children who come to the centre. One of my favourite parts of the role is planning exciting activities and opportunities, helping to create fun, lasting memories for the children.

Since joining, I’ve made so many cherished memories, and I feel really proud to be part of a team that supports such wonderful families every day.

My background is in health and social care with children, and fundraising at the NSPCC and ChildLine, so when this role came-up it was like all my dream jobs rolled into one!

The thing that I enjoy most about working at Little Miracles is that it is a unique environment where it is impossible to forget the importance of what we do. We are surrounded by the children we are helping and their families, so many of whom are happy to get involved by telling their stories or speaking to supporters about how Little Miracles has been a lifeline to them. This was new to me coming from much bigger charities, at Little Miracles you never feel distanced from the cause and donors are always delighted to be able to meet the people they are helping.

Everyone here, from the staff and volunteers to all the people we support, really are one big, happy family who will help and care for each other no matter what. It is the best decision I ever made!

Hello, I'm Jack, and I proudly serve as the Trusts and Foundations Manager at Little Miracles.

My journey with Little Miracles began through a business apprenticeship, right after the DIY SOS team constructed a remarkable state-of-the-art play centre.

What brings me the greatest joy is witnessing the tangible benefits that parents and children experience through their involvement with Little Miracles. As a fundraiser and grant writer, it is immensely gratifying to see the funds I raise directly contribute to the well-being of these families, some of whom I have known for years. Knowing that I played a part in making these opportunities possible fills me with a sense of fulfilment.

In addition to the rewarding aspects of my role, I've had the opportunity to partake in exciting endeavours such as the Three Peaks challenge, the London Marathon, and even a Skydive. I've also had the privilege of being featured on TV and radio, and I've had the pleasure of meeting remarkable individuals who share the same passion for our cause. It's truly an enriching experience to be surrounded by such passionate and dedicated people.
