Professional and Student Placements
Are you looking for a placement where you'll gain real experience, grow your confidence and make a genuine difference?
At Little Miracles, our professional and student placements give you the chance to be part of a team supporting families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions. Whether you're studying, building your placement hours or simply looking to use your skills in a meaningful way, you'll be welcomed, supported and encouraged every step of the way.
"Professional and student placements are so important to Little Miracles because they don't just help someone build experience – they bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and new skills into our team. Every placement is a chance to learn, grow and make a real difference to the families we support. We love seeing people develop their confidence with us, knowing they're gaining experience that will help shape their future careers while having a positive impact on our families today."
- Nikita Lack, Head of Family Support Services
Learn by Doing
Our placements are hands-on, giving you the chance to work alongside experienced professionals and support families in real-life situations.
Depending on your placement, you could:
- Support families with practical and emotional guidance
- Work alongside our Counselling and Family Support teams
- Contribute to sessions and support plans
- Develop confidence through real client experience

Learn From a Range of Services
One of the things that makes Little Miracles different is that so many services are under one roof.
During your placement, you could learn about:
- Family Support
- Counselling and bereavement support
- Play and art therapy
- Emotional wellbeing
- Education, housing and financial guidance
It's a great way to see how different services work together to support the whole family.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome placement students from courses including counselling, psychology, social work, healthcare, education and other related subjects.
We're also keen to hear from qualified professionals who'd like to share their skills, gain experience in a specialist setting or simply give something back to their local community.
If you're not sure whether your experience fits, get in touch. We'd much rather have a conversation than have you rule yourself out.
What You'll Gain
Every placement is a chance to learn, grow and build your confidence.
Along the way you'll gain practical experience, develop professional skills, learn about safeguarding and see what it's really like to support children and families with additional needs. It's the kind of experience employers really value because it's hands-on, meaningful and makes a lasting impact.
Support Every Step of the Way

Starting a placement can feel like a big step, but you won't be doing it alone.
Our experienced team will be there to guide you, answer questions and help you develop your skills. Where needed, you'll also receive supervision as part of your placement, particularly within our counselling and therapy services.
You'll receive:
- Ongoing support from experienced team members
- Clear guidance throughout your placement
- Safeguarding and role-specific training
- Supervision where appropriate, including counselling placements
DBS, Training and Safeguarding
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Little Miracles, and some placements require an Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training.
We will guide you through the process where necessary, and the charity covers the cost of your DBS and any required training when you volunteer with us for at least 10 hours.
Join an Inclusive Team
We're proud to be a Disability Confident organisation and want everyone to feel welcome at Little Miracles.
If you need any adjustments or extra support during your placement, just let us know. We'll always do our best to make your experience a positive one.
